2012 Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold

Officially sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF), organized by Badminton Federation of Macau, officially sponsored by Macau Sport Development Board, title sponsored by Kumpoo®, the “2012 Kumpoo® Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold” will commence on 27th November through 2nd December 2012 at the Macao Forum.

It is already the 7th year for Badminton Federation of Macau to host the “2012 Kumpoo® Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold”. The organizing work and experience is getting more and more mature. Annually hosting smoothly and successfully, it is always depending on the full support of Macao SAR Government, Macau Sport Development Board, sponsors, media, as well as the community and badminton clubs of their publicity and coordination. Badminton Federation of Macau is confident that it can continuously to organize the tournament successfully.
 
The “2012 Kumpoo® Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold” is one of the BWF World Grand Prix Gold tournaments and the fourteenth Grand Prix tournament of this year following that in India, Netherlands and Germany, with the total prize money of MOP$1,000,000 for this year. After more than half year of preparation for this tournament, a total entry of 19 countries/nations with 320 players was received after the due date of submission on 31st October 2012. It is the most entries that have been received among the previous Macau Open tournaments. Many of the well-known and top players, such as 2012 London Olympic medalists, Zhang Nan, Man Jin (CHN), World No.1 Men’s Singles player Lee Chong Wei (MAS), Taufik Hidayat (INA)–2004 Athens Olympic Gold Medalist who has announced that it will be the last year to participate in this tournament, will participate in the five individual events, which are namely, Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles and Mixed doubles. The Draws shall be done by BWF on 13th November 2012. The Referee and Deputy Referee will be officiated by BWF Referees from Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
 
Tickets for the first 4 days (27th to 30th November – preliminary rounds) of the “2012 Kumpoo® Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold” are sold at $150 (free seating) daily, whereas the tickets for the last 2 days (1st to 2nd December – Semi-Finals and Finals) are $300 (free seating) and $400 (numbered seating) daily.
 
The tickets are available for sale at all the retails of Kong Seng and Macau Ticket. Macau residents are entitled to receive 50% discount, whereas non-Macau resident only enjoy 20% discount off by 13th November. The tickets can be purchased either via Internet on www.macauticket.com, or telephone call at (853) 2855 5555. All local residents are foreign visitors are welcomed to participate, and give support to the countries participating in the tournaments.
